Samsung Galaxy S5 Zoom specs leak out 20 MP camera Exynos 5 Hexa processor 4 8 display

If you had doubts that Samsung will be spinning the S5 branding off to various devices, just like it did with the S4, doubt no more. We heard about a Galaxy S5 Zoom sequel to last years S4 Zoom (SM-C101), and now its full specs sheet leaked out, courtesy of a graphics benchmark database.

Chilling on the GFXBench website, we find the Samsung SM-C115 device, listed with a 20 MP camera (5184 x 3888 sensor resolution), and a 2 MP front-facing shooter, capable of 1080p video recording. The other mentioned specs are a 4.8" 720p HD display, 1.3 GHz Samsung Exynos 5 Hexa processor with ARM Mali-T624 graphics, 2 GB of RAM, and two reported storage capacities, which likely means that a dedicated memory card slot will be present, too. The latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat is what runs on the device, and we wouldnt expect anything less.

For comparison, last years bulky S4 Zoom has a 16 MP camera, 4.3" display with qHD 540x960 pixels, dual-core Exynos, 1.5 GB of RAM, and 8 GB of storage, plus a microSD slot. It also has the whopping 10x optical zoom, and a similar feature is very likely to be in the new S5 Zoom, too. Unfortunately, the S4 Zoom is as big as a compact point-and-shoot camera, so shaving off the bulk should be at the top of Samsungs list with the S5 Zoom, if it wants better commercial success.

Samsung execs deny a Galaxy S5 Premium yet hint at an upscale smartphone lineup and a Note 4

Oh, no, the sky is falling, and the Galaxy S5 Premium isnt happening! Weve been hearing for ages about a supposed"luxury" F series phones, coming from Samsung, with top-shelf specs, and premium metallic design, at the respective higher price. Its flagship was always assumed to be a stepped-up S5, with upgrades like a QHD display, and an OIS camera, for instance.

Now, Samsungs boss, J.K. Shin, has allegedly denied the existence of a "premium" S5, saying that "there is no such thing," during an interview with Korean publications. He cushioned the blow with an info on the Note 4, though, reminding us that "of course, in the fall, [there will be] a new model Galaxy Note. This will come out".

Apparently, J.K. Shin didnt deny the work on a more upscale smartphone series specifically, but rather just advised that a more decked-out version of the Galaxy S5, branded "Premium," isnt happening. Thats not to say that the eventual series wouldnt have its own flagship, under a completely different naming scheme.

WE WILL MAINTAIN OUR DOMINANCE IN KEY BUSINESSES, SUCH AS MOBILE PHONES, TVS AND MEMORY CHIPS, BY ROLLING OUT PREMIUM LINEUPS

In fact, Kwon Oh-hyun, Samsung Electronics’ VP, confirmed at the annual shareholder meeting that the company will be maintaining growth “in key businesses, such as mobile phones, TVs and memory chips, by rolling out premium lineups.” Yesterday Samsung unveiled a luxury line of kitchen appliances (read even more expensive refrigerators), saying that it plans to become number one in this segment within a year, adding more water to the premium device series rumor mill.

Samsungs upscale smartphone portfolio was all a speculation at this point anyway, and, since the latest rumor pegged the first representative for May release, we should know pretty soon if the luxury F series, or whatever it gets titled, is happening at all.
